Heather is a hardy plant — it endures cold well and holds its colour for many weeks, which is why it is often placed on graves in the season of reflection. The vessel makes it easy to set the whole on the slab and protects the roots of the plants. The small, densely set flower clusters give a calm, uniform picture that needs no daily care from those who visit.
