Deep red against black — a pairing that needs no justification. Roses with full, dark buds fill the black box tightly, creating a composition with an almost theatrical mood. It looks its best in the dimmed light of evening, on a study desk and on a table laid for dinner. It calls for neither a vase nor rearranging: the flowers sit securely in damp foam and a little added water is all they need. It works when you have something important to say, but want it to sound quiet and full of class.
